Groome’s proven and patented KinetiClean™ HRSG tube cleaning technology uses a kinetic shockwave to remove the build-up of unwanted foulant, followed by our patented high-pressure, high-volume oscillating air system that removes any remaining debris on the tubes.

How KinetiClean™ Works

KinetiClean™ utilizes a 3-Step process which can be completed faster than any method currently on the market. HRSG size, number of tube bundles, and amount of fouling all factor into the overall length of a project.

STEP 1: Kinetic Shockwave via Det-Cord Curtain
Each curtain is engineered for every application based on HRSG size/design, amount of fouling and fin tube construction/age.

Our patented oscillating air tool removes any remaining debris that is left on the fin tubes.

Is KinetiClean™ Safe?

The kinetic shockwave is created using Det-Cord, NOT dynamite. Det-Cord is a flexible linear explosive with a core of PETN explosive encased in a textile outer jacket. The cord itself is inert and cap sensitive, which means the cord can only be detonated after a blasting cap has been attached.

Additional factors that make KinetiClean™ safe:

  • No Det-Cord comes in direct contact with any plant equipment.
  • Minimized exposure of personnel to airborne particulate.
  • Other contractor work can be performed while the Det-Cord curtains are installed inside the HRSG.
  • Explosives installed and initiated by trained & licensed professionals.

EPRI has independently evaluated the potential impacts of KinetiClean™ on HRSG tube integrity.

No evidence of damage to tubes or other components was observed during these tests. Results are available through the EPRI Heat Recovery Steam Generators Program.
